Information systems revisited - the general continuous case

چکیده
In this paper a new notion of continuous information system is introduced. It is shown that the information systems of this kind generate exactly the continuous domains. The new information systems are of the same logic-oriented style as the information systems first introduced by Scott in 1982: they consist of a set of tokens, a consistency predicate and an entailment relation satisfying a set of natural axioms. It is shown that continuous information systems are closely related to abstract bases. Indeed, both categories are equivalent. Since it is known that the categories of abstract bases and/or continuous domains are equivalent, it follows that the category of continuous information systems is also equivalent to that of continuous domains. In applications, mostly subclasses of continuous domains are considered. For example, the domains have to be pointed, algebraic, bounded-complete or FS. Conditions are presented that, when fulfilled by a continuous information system, force the generated domain to belong to the required subclass. In most cases the requirements are not only sufficient but also necessary. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The function ring functors of pointfree topology revisited
This paper establishes two new connections between the familiar function ring functor ${mathfrak R}$ on the category ${bf CRFrm}$ of completely regular frames and the category {bf CR}${mathbf sigma}${bf Frm} of completely regular $sigma$-frames as well as their counterparts for the analogous functor ${mathfrak Z}$ on the category {bf ODFrm} of 0-dimensional frames, given by the integer-valued f...
متن کاملMechanism Discrimination for Bimolecular Reactions: Revisited with a Practical Hydrogenation Case Study
The governing mechanism of surface reactions is a fundamental concern in heterogeneous catalysis. The Langmuir–Hinshelwood (LH) mechanism is widely accepted to control the surface reactions in many catalytic systems. This contribution derives and compares several important surface rate equations to evaluate their quality of fitting to the experimental data collected for a vapor-phase hydrogenat...
متن کاملSIMULATING CONTINUOUS FUZZY SYSTEMS: I
In previous studies we first concentrated on utilizing crisp simulationto produce discrete event fuzzy systems simulations. Then we extendedthis research to the simulation of continuous fuzzy systems models. In this paperwe continue our study of continuous fuzzy systems using crisp continuoussimulation. Consider a crisp continuous system whose evolution depends ondifferential equations. Such a ...
متن کاملStrong convergence of a general implicit algorithm for variational inequality problems and equilibrium problems and a continuous representation of nonexpansive mappings
We introduce a general implicit algorithm for finding a common element of the set of solutions of systems of equilibrium problems and the set of common fixed points of a sequence of nonexpansive mappings and a continuous representation of nonexpansive mappings. Then we prove the strong convergence of the proposed implicit scheme to the unique solution of the minimization problem on the so...
متن کاملContinuous-time Sequential Decision Feedback: Revisited
Sequential feedback communications has wide ranging applications such as low power communications, error-resilience protocols etc. Two kinds of feedback communication systems can be indentified: information feedback and decision feedback. Continuous-time sequential decision feedback communication is the focus of this paper. The case when the detector test statistic is a Poisson random walk proc...
